An air conditioner or an air-con is a device that keeps the air in a particular closed place, cool and dry. There are various types of air conditioners in the market. You can choose them according to your need and taste.

 

The most common types of air cons include the following:

 

Window Air conditioners: This is used for cooling apartments that have about one or two rooms. The cooling part of the air con is placed inside the room and the warm part which includes the coils is placed outside the window.

 

Through-the-wall air cons: They are normally used to cool single room and should have a sleeve in the wall to support its weight. They are usually energy efficient.

 

Portable Air conditioners: Portable air conditioners can be placed anywhere in a room and as the name suggests they can also be moved from one place to another. They are usually about 2 - 3 feet in height and are quite easy to move between rooms. The water ejected out is usually collected in a bucket or a tray that is placed below the air con.

 

Ductless Air Conditioners: These air cons come with a split design and have the air ducts inside the room with the compressor placed outside. They are inexpensive to install and also are easy to maintain.

 

Packaged Terminal Air conditioners: These air cons have the heating and cooling devices encased differently. They are mounted through the wall and take up more space than the normal wall mount Air cons. They can heat and cool a room which is very useful, as in the summer the cooler can be used and in the winter the heater is of good use.
